‘People We Meet On Vacation’ Is The Ultimate Beach Read

If you’re searching for your next summer read, this is it.

I was really craving a light read after Malibu Rising turned out to be a more serious story than I expected. People We Meet on Vacation had everything I was looking for: friendship, romance, travel, and believable characters.

Reading about Poppy and Alex’s travel adventures and friendship over the years reminded me of my own best friend. Their story was so sweet and real. I liked that the relationships in this book were never cut-and-dried. They had depth, and you could really feel the characters’ emotions.

Although this story wasn’t life-changing, there were two moments that made me stop and think because of how true they were: 1. When Poppy’s friend Rachel tells her that in life “purpose matters more than contentment”; 2. When Poppy talks about “The Bachelor” and says “It’s fascinating. How so much of love is about who you are with someone.”

There’s not much else to say about this book except gush about how this story of friends-turned-lovers felt very plausible and beautifully complex. If you’re heading to the cottage or the beach, make sure you pick this one up!

💥𝐓𝐋;𝐃𝐑: When you can’t travel, reading about travel is the next best thing. This story about friends-turned-lovers is not overly cheesy and instead focuses on how love can change a relationship. 4/5
