‘Seven Days in June’ Will Have You Rooting For Love

‘Seven Days in June’ Will Have You Rooting For Love

I didn’t expect my summer to be so busy, but here we are in mid-August already. Luckily, I managed to squeeze in this beautiful book about two writers who fell in love as teens and reconnect again 15 years later.

I loved this story so much. Everything from the characters to the complicated relationships to the romance was beautiful. I particularly loved that the protagonist Eva was a “vampire erotica” author who based her work on her teen love, Shane. The fandom around Eva’s books in the story brought me back to my own teen years reading the “Twilight” series with my friends. We were so into it that we lined up in-store to get our hands on the latest release, and we even made t-shirts with “Team Edward” or “Team Jacob” on them to go see the movies. Ah, to be a teen again!

But back to Seven Days in June. This was just such a great summer read. You fall for these characters the minute you meet them, but they aren’t perfect. I appreciated that they were written with their own flaws, quirks, and demons to battle. The book also touched briefly on representation and what it means to be a black author, which offered an important perspective. Overall, it’s a stunning book that will stay with you for a while.

💥𝐓𝐋;𝐃𝐑: Although this is marketed as a love story, the romance isn’t the only thing that will keep you interested. The characters themselves feel real with all their flaws and you will be invested in them until the very end. 5/5
