‘The Silent Patient’ Lives Up To The Hype

‘The Silent Patient’ Lives Up To The Hype

This book wasn't even on my radar until I started seeing author Alex Michaelides' latest release The Maidens popping up on bestseller lists. There are so many raving reviews about The Silent Patient and I'm so glad it lived up to the hype!

One of the reasons I think this book was so enjoyable for me was because I went into it with zero expectations. Honestly, I just wanted to see what all the buzz was about. I’ve seen some reviews say there wasn’t enough conflict or that it was a cheesy mystery, but I disagree.

The premise had me hooked from the beginning. Essentially, famous painter Alicia Berenson shoots her husband five times in the face and never speaks again. The story is told through psychotherapist Theo Faber's perspective, as he's the one trying to help Alicia's mental well-being.

I thought Theo’s perspective was really unique, but I also loved that we got glimpses into Alicia's mind through her journal entries. I don't want to give too much away, but this was definitely a page-turning psychological thriller with a fantastic twist. But fair warning: this book deals with mental health challenges, family trauma and relationship issues.

Have you read this? What did you think?

💥𝐓𝐋;𝐃𝐑: If you’re looking for a page-turning book to help you escape reality for a day, this is it. You won’t be able to put down this thriller until you discover what happens in the end. 5/5
